Athlete Cristiano Ronaldo launches health and wellness app

Portuguese professional football player Cristiano Ronaldo announced the launch of Erakulis, a wellness app that offers fitness, nutrition and mental health services.

The athlete founded the company to provide holistic health offerings that merge technology and curated content crafted under his guidance.

Users can access personalized wellness plans, including fitness programs, nutrition and mental wellness offerings, online video appointments with health-and-wellness experts, and a community platform where members can connect.

The app is slated to launch on April 3. 

“As a professional athlete, discipline, focus, and balance have been key to my success on the field. The countless hours of training, attention to nutrition, and mental preparation have played a crucial role in my journey. We’ve added these features into Erakulis,” Ronaldo said in a statement. 

THE LARGER TREND

Ronaldo is one of several athletes to join the health-and-wellness space. 

Tennis star Serena Williams began investing in digital health startups, including virtual and in-office healthcare provider Juno Medical, which raised $12 million in Series A funding in 2022. The round was coled by the tennis star’s Serena Ventures.

Williams also invested in connected fitness company Tonal’s $45 million Series C funding raise in 2019. Basketball players Stephen Curry and Paul George and professional golfer Michelle Wie contributed to the company’s $110 million raise in 2020.
